Social Bookmarking

Today i tried out social bookmarking...

...it seemed pretty confusing at first, and I'm not the type to sit and read about all the "cool features," I'd rather just dive into it. So I started searching different topics and pressed quite a few buttons and here is what pages I bookmarked:

My Bookmarks

I used delicious.com to help me organize all the pages I found. All you do is click 'register' at the top of the page and make an account. I didn't like this so much because it requires you to already have or make a yahoo account.... I didn't have one but I did have a google account. This just means more memorization of passwords! Once you've created an account you search any topics you want in the search box on the right side. Once you've found a page to bookmark, click the 'save' link next to the title of the page.

It's overwhelming at first, but you'll figure it out! It's easy!

RSS feed

Boy, I am just not used to this technology stuff!
I was surprised about what the RSS feed actually did. I had always seen the little icon on all the different pages I had been on but never really thought to check it out. I'm kind of that person who's afraid if I click on something...my computer will blow up! Well when I made my google reader page I realized how simple it was. Its good to have all the information come to you instead of having to check all different pages and sites just to see what you want. But if you're like me, and you're usually online just to waste time, this isn't for you. (IT SAVES TIME! AHH!)

I would definately recommend watching the tutorial! It helped me all the way through it! I do think I'm going to continue using my google reader just because its so simple. I'll probably be adding many other RSS feeds to the ones I have now. My emerging technology feed is most interesting to me. I'm not really the tech junkie so this page sort of tells about the more "interesting" technology. For example: it talks about the Japanese turning office paper into toilet paper and Microsoft's "Pictionaire."
This is the tutorial that helped me:
The Tutorial
Good luck!

Podcasting...

What is a podcast? I wasn't really sure until today. I have never listened to anyone's podcast, nor have I made one of my own... so let's see how this goes!

A podcast is basically like a radio show. You can broadcast your voice, music, or whatever to the world. You can even download others' podcast for enjoyment or work. Pod casting would be beneficial in the classroom. A teacher could record their lectures and if a student missed a day, they could download the podcast.

....so I'll be honest,it sounds easy, but I'm not sure if I'll be able to figure it out. I haven't tried it yet but I have downloaded the program I decided to use: Audacity. If you're going to use Audacity, you need to download LAME MP3 along with it.
...here goes nothing!

Enjoy my first podcast :)

MY PODCAST

Posting it on here, I used mediafire. I uploaded my podcast to the website and it gave me a url, which I linked to my my blog (the "my podcast"). Now it is a direct download from my blog. I used the "link" button to make the...link! :)

Making My Blog...

It was pretty easy! I just followed the steps that blogger setup for new bloggers. I have never had a blog before, however, I have a facebook and myspace. It was kind of difficult thinking of a title for my blog... that was about the hardest part! But after I named it "Some Thoughts..." I tried to spice it up a little. I didn't really like the set backgrounds they had on there so photoshop helped me make it more unique. After I put my background up I filled out my profile information (click view full profile) and there will be an edit profile button. Click on it and fill out your info! It was hard to think of what to put about myself.... but I wrote whatever came to mind. After that your ready to start blogging! click on the post blog button and write your little heart out.

Check out my dog breed powerpoint (kinda lame, I'm not gonna lie)!

Check out this SlideShare Presentation:

Too Many Hours Spent Making This Lovely

Ashley Floyd. That's me. I'm in my second semester of freshman year of college. Its lame, but I set my aspirations high and I don't plan on living under a bridge. That's my main reason for attending college. I started this blog for my online computer class; which still confuses me... if we don't know how to do these things on the computer in the first place, how are we supposed to learn via computer? Well, I guess I'm learning that along the way. I enjoy taking pictures of things (mainly people around me). I don't generally like to be technical with anything. I don't like following rules when it comes to legal things, such as: boardgames, photography, matching clothes... but I do follow rules when it comes to illegal things, such as: driving on the right side of the street, not disturbing the peace, and dancing appropriately. I don't take myself too seriously and love letting my inner child out!

This was pretty easy to make:
-Follow the Set-Up Instructions
-Change Your Layout to Fit Your Personality
-Be Positive and Say What You What to Say, It's Your Blog!
